Should I buy a Volkswagen Golf or Puegeot 307?

I have £3500 to spend on a used car. I have been thinking of a VW Golf but they seem expensive. I have been looking at various used car websites and it seems I would get a younger car with less miles if I bought a 307 instead. However some reviews say the 307 is a lot less reliable in the long term than the golf and I may end up spending more money on repairs. Im 23 and have just passed my test so I have to consider the cost of Insurance also. I am so confused, can anyone help or advise me please!?

Both of those will cost you arms & legs for parts & repairs, get a mitsubishi or a toyota, they go a lot longer & cost less for parts.
